Dan Hughes-Senior Pastor
I was blessed to grow up in a home where seeking and serving Christ was a priority. I committed my life to Jesus in 1974 at the age of seven and baptized at Willoughby Baptist Church in northern Ohio. I attended Carson Newman College from 1984 to 1986 where I responded to God’s call to full-time ministry. I transferred to Baylor University and graduated in 1989 with a Bachelor of Arts in Religion. I received my Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1992. After taking a break from official schooling until 2004, I received my Doctor of Ministry from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in 2007.
The Lord brought my wonderful and loving wife, Susan, into my life during my senior year at Baylor University. We were married on August 17, 1991. The Lord has blessed us with three beautiful children, Danielle (Dani), Andrew, and Elizabeth (Beth). I daily learn to love the Lord more as my relationship with my wife and children grows. I know the Lord wisely put them in my life to support, encourage, and love me unconditionally.
I served as an associate pastor of youth and college and then college and education at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Waco, Texas from 1990 to 1997. I was senior pastor of Kingsley Lake Baptist Church in Starke, Florida from 1997 to 2008. Since November 2008, I have served as senior pastor at Emmanuel Baptist Church.
I enjoy spending time with my wife and children, playing golf, woodworking, and reading history. I seek to live daily in the reality that the Lord calls me His friend and servant. One of my life verses is Jeremiah 29:13 which I use as a challenge to seek and serve the Lord with all my heart all the days of my life.
